IT Director Nick Simov told the board the NEC system installed in 2008–2009 is beyond manufacturer end-of-support and end-of-life, making replacement parts scarce and limiting integration with modern safety and emergency-notification systems. He said the recent replacement of the district paging system with an AtlasIED IPX platform now allows the phone system to integrate fully with paging and emergency alerts, and after technical and financial evaluation Technology staff recommended CrossRealms for the project.
The board approved the motion (#2026-109) to authorize the telephone system replacement on a roll-call vote. The motion was made by Board Secretary Luz Raymond and seconded by Diane Ponce; the recorded votes were Raymond, Grenier, Jozwiak, Vasquez, Kozal and Ponce in favor. The motion carried unanimously (6 ayes).
The presentation to the board cited the system’s age (installed 2008–2009), lack of manufacturer support, difficulty obtaining replacement parts, and the opportunity to integrate telephony with the new AtlasIED IPX paging system as the primary reasons to proceed.
