Planning commission approves 60-to-90-day extension for recording final plats without surety

Staff member (S1) presented a text amendment to the commission to extend the time allowed to record final plats that do not require posting sureties from 60 days to 90 days. The staff rationale was that several applicants recently requested non-agenda action because they were unable to acquire required utility-district signatures within the 60-day window, causing final-plat approvals to lapse.
S1 noted that plats that do require sureties already have 90 days to post sureties and 120 days to record the plat, and that the proposed change would align the no-surety window with practical needs. Commissioner (S8) moved to approve staff’s recommendation and the motion passed by voice vote.
The commission forwarded the proposed text amendment and attached resolution to the county commission with a recommendation for adoption.
