District says Munis is operational; Bonfire procurement live as integration work continues

Summary
District staff reported that the Munis financial system is functioning and delivering benefits such as electronic vendor payments and workflow visibility; Bonfire procurement intake is live but full integration with Munis requires programming work and further optimization.
District operations staff told the committee that Munis — the district’s financial system — is now operational and delivering measurable benefits while a prioritized optimization list remains in progress.
"Munis is functioning and operational," Robinson (S12) told the committee, saying the team identified 51 opportunities for improvement and has prioritized critical and high items for early resolution. Staff said vendor access has been rolled out to enable electronic purchase order visibility and invoice submission, and that Munis now integrates with the district’s time-and-attendance system in ways that improve payroll accuracy and budget control.
Procurement staff reported that Bonfire, the district’s procurement intake and bid platform, is live and that intake tracking for contracts was activated March 9. "Bonfire is live," procurement staff said, noting that Bonfire currently operates separately from Munis and that integration will require additional programming work.
Timekeeping and workflows: board members raised concerns about timecard modifications, remote clock-ins, and approvals. Staff and supervisors said they are adjusting reporting lines (for example, reassigning school nutrition supervision) and emphasizing supervisory responsibility to limit improper time edits. The Munis workflows were described as able to show where a payment or contract approval is stalled and which approver is responsible.
Next steps: staff said Tyler Munis consultants will be on site to address critical system issues, more processes will be moved into Munis and optimized, and a future update will report savings and efficiency gains from the system’s optimization. No formal actions were taken; the committee asked staff to continue implementing and to return with progress reports.
