Committee member moves to approve emergency ESRI mapping purchase; board authorizes immediate $1,907.50 buy

The Ike Operational Board on Wednesday authorized an immediate, emergency purchase of an ESRI mapping quote for $1,907.50 and agreed to place the item on next month’s agenda for ratification.

A committee member moved “I make a motion to authorize the immediate purchase of the ESRI quote for $1,907.50,” and a board member seconded the motion. The mover told the board the mapping service is essential to daily operations and had been inadvertently left off the agenda, and that the board should approve it now and ratify it at the next meeting. The chair confirmed the board was approving the purchase on an emergency basis to avoid operational gaps.

The secretary called the roll before the vote; Chief Mills, Chief Proner, Chief Bryant and Commander Diaz recorded votes in favor. Chief Willis and Mayor Booker were recorded as absent. The chair announced the motion carried.

Board members said the ESRI product supports mapping and daily dispatch workflows and that approving the quote immediately would prevent interruptions to critical services. The board did not vote on the formal ratification at this meeting; the emergency approval will be placed on the agenda for the next meeting for public notice and formal ratification.
