Design work for community pool underway; staff estimates about two years to completion

Jeff Haughey, the town parks staff lead, said the design team will produce conceptual drawings followed by engineered plans and that the group is looking at an approximate two‑year timeline to completion. “They’re they’re looking at about 2 years out,” Jeff said, noting permitting, procurement and intergovernmental approvals could affect the schedule.
Staff outlined the procurement steps that typically follow design: several months for permitting, a 90‑day public bid process, and time to evaluate and award a contract. Board members pushed for timely updates and asked that the design firm present conceptual drawings to council and advisory boards so the community can provide input.
Members also asked about project scope and whether the footprint could change; staff indicated the pool would generally match the existing footprint but that non‑in‑ground amenities (for example, splash elements) could be considered during design. Board members asked staff to provide copies of the pool design plan and any cost estimates as they become available so the advisory board can weigh in during the design phases.
