CHSD 218 board approves budget designation, renovations bid and 2026–27 calendar; moves to closed session

The Board of Education for CHSD 218 approved several procedural and action items during its Jan. 14 regular meeting and then moved into closed session.
The board first adopted the consent agenda, which included minutes from the Dec. 18, 2025 meeting, a request to solicit proposals for a multifunction copier lease, approval of district expenditures and the superintendent’s personnel recommendations (20-26-1). After a motion and second, board members present voted and the chair announced the motion carried.
In new business the board approved a resolution designating a person to prepare the tentative budget for July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027. The resolution was moved and seconded and passed by voice vote.
The board next approved Bid No. 1517, a request to solicit bids for interior and exterior renovations at Eisenhower and Richards High School; Jose, the district construction representative, was present for questions. The motion to solicit bids was moved, seconded and carried.
The board also voted to adopt the 2026–27 academic calendar after brief discussion; members noted positive feedback and particular support for an institute day to follow breaks. The motion carried.
Finally, the chair requested and the board approved a motion to enter closed session to discuss personnel matters, pending or probable litigation, and the semiannual review of closed session minutes and tapes.
Next steps: The board will proceed with procurement steps for Bid No. 1517, the business office will prepare the tentative budget under the designated staff member, and the closed-session matters will be addressed privately as allowed under state law.
