Three Lake Stevens schools present improvement plans targeting higher SBA proficiency and belonging

North Lake Middle School Principal Brad Ables and Assistant Principal Kelly Goodmansen said the school will use Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and targeted advisory retooling to raise 6th-grade ELA from 55% to 65% and 7th-grade ELA from 66% to 72%; similar targets were set for math (6th-grade 55% to 65%; 7th-grade 54% to 64%). The school also aims to increase Sense of Belonging from 77% to 80% and attendance from 78% to 85%.
Lake Stevens High School Principal Leslie Ivelia and Associate Principal Jason Pearson reported an on-time graduation rate of 96% and set targets to increase math proficiency from 39% to 44%, ELA from 71.5% to 76%, science from 41.4% to 52% and social-emotional learning measures from 75.8% to 85%. Administrators described expanded after-school interventions and initiatives to strengthen student life and leadership.
Lake Stevens Middle School Principal Mike Randies outlined goals to raise 6th-grade ELA SBA proficiency from 65% to 73% and 7th-grade from 67% to 75%; math goals include moving 6th-grade from 57% to 65% and 7th-grade from 47% to 55%. The plan emphasizes multilingual learner supports, targeted interventions to reduce the number of students needing LAP services and building a culture of shared adult responsibility.
Each principal described PLC-centered work, common formative assessments and targeted interventions as the primary strategies to reach the stated targets.
