Gilroy Unified swears in three new trustees, elects president and vice president

The Gilroy Unified School District formally began its reorganizational business at the regular board meeting, swearing in three newly elected trustees and electing a new board leadership team.
Superintendent Dr. Anisha Munshi administered the oath to the incoming trustees, welcoming them to the board. After nominations the board elected Trustee Fayock as president and Trustee Pacino as vice president by voice votes; both were confirmed after motion and second. Munshi was appointed secretary to the board by unanimous action.
The board also adjusted its 2025 meeting calendar to avoid a conflict with Yom Kippur, moving the previously scheduled Oct. 2 meeting to Tuesday, Sept. 30, after trustees discussed calendar distribution and community notification. The motion to amend the calendar carried without opposition.
During opening recognitions the board honored outgoing trustees Mark W. Goode, James E. Pace and Trustee Agari for their years of service. Mayor Marie Blankley presented proclamations on behalf of the City of Gilroy thanking the trustees for contributions to facilities projects, pandemic reopening plans and community engagement.
The reorganizational items were handled at the start of the meeting and were followed by the board’s routine annual business, including appointments and committee assignments. The board announced its next regular meeting for Jan. 16, 2025.
