Chambers said "Election integrity is essential to public trust" and pledged to follow election laws closely, work with trained poll workers and maximize early voting hours allowed under state law so every eligible voter has the opportunity to cast a ballot. She framed her campaign as service-driven, noting experience on the Columbia Township board and a background in nursing and small-business management.
Both candidates addressed public-records access. Hughes described ongoing efforts to consolidate scattered files from multiple locations, begin systematic scanning and reorganize records so they are accessible; she said the office is starting to scan documents to improve filing systems. Chambers emphasized using technology where appropriate, improving indexing and maintaining strong in-person service while expanding secure online access.
On office management, Hughes said cross-training staff and layered financial checks help ensure continuity and accuracy. Chambers stressed keeping the county clerk's website current and using existing technology to speed service while preserving in-person assistance.
