Libertyville District 70 board adopts Bridges for K–5, approves three-year Amplify Desmos middle-school contract

The Libertyville Elementary Schools District No. 70 Board of Education voted Feb. 23 to adopt a new K–8 mathematics program, extending the Bridges curriculum to fifth grade and approving a three-year contract with Amplify Desmos for middle-school instruction.
Members of the K–5 math committee and the Highland Middle School math department presented Board Report 9.2 recommending Bridges for grades K–5 — described as a re-adoption for grades K–4 and a new adoption for grade 5 — and a blended Amplify Desmos package of paper and online resources for middle-school teachers and students. The presenters said the Amplify Desmos contract includes professional development to prepare staff for a fall implementation.
Mrs. Dahlke moved to approve the package and Mr. Lawton seconded. On a roll-call vote the board recorded ayes from Mrs. Dahlke, Mr. Sticklen, Mrs. Grove, Mr. Lawton, Mr. McGhee and Mrs. Schilling; Mrs. Khan was absent. The motion carried.
District materials accompanying the proposal said the combined approach is intended to provide continuity across elementary grades while offering a modern blended platform for middle-school instruction. With board approval, the district will begin professional development for teachers this spring and plan for classroom implementation in the fall.

The board recognized students and staff, including Highland Middle School eighth-grader Mason G. for cross-country leadership and Rockland School students for participation in a mentoring program. Rockland math interventionist Laura Williams was honored after selection for the ISBE Those Who Excel Award of Meritorious Service for 2026.
