The Corona‑Norco Unified School District board on June 4 approved a consent item to expand its contract with Clover Enterprises to add three certified athletic trainers to the district pool.
District staff member Mr. Gunn told trustees the district currently contracts five certified athletic trainers covering the five comprehensive high schools and that the new agreement will add three more, increasing the available trainers to eight. Gunn said the district holds about 600 home athletic events per high school each year and that the expanded pool will help provide coverage for sites, intermediate events, elementary events and travel competitions. He said a detailed deployment plan will be prepared and provided to the board by the end of the month.
Trustees praised the move as a safety and health improvement for students. The consent calendar containing the agreement passed 5–0.
The district said it will work with athletic directors to determine assignment of the additional trainers and will report back with the operational plan.
