Adair County proclaims Child Abuse Prevention Month, hears behavioral-health presentation and approves personnel changes

The board also heard a presentation from Lisa Carstens of Zion Integrated Behavioral Health Services on the Iowa Behavioral Health Service System, which covered system implementation, statewide resources and local service coordination. Board members asked questions about local coordination and resource availability; no formal action was required on the presentation.
On personnel matters, the board accepted with regret the resignation of Diana Bower as Jackson Township Clerk and appointed Deanna Winkelman to that position. The meeting record also notes a non‑agenda personnel item: Sheriff Jeff Vandewater intends to hire a dispatcher to start April 1; the board indicated prior approval for the hire and will take formal action the following week.
The board moved to appoint Supervisor Michael Christoffersen as an ex officio, nonvoting member of the Conservation Board to enhance communication between the boards. Dominic Johnson, identified as Conservation Director, expressed support for a nonvoting representative. The motion passed with Christoffersen recorded as abstaining.
