Board approves two Measure K charter‑school projects for Forest Ranch and Sherwood Montessori

Julie Kissell, director of facilities and construction, told the board the committee met last Monday and approved two requests: restroom renovations at Forest Ranch School (new sinks, toilets, painting and related clean‑up) and a secure‑entry system with fencing and gates for Sherwood Montessori at Chapman Elementary and at a nearby parcel on Cleveland.
"The first is up at Forest Ranch School where they're gonna renovate their existing restroom buildings," Kissell said. She described the Sherwood project as matching the secure entry systems already installed at other Chico Unified campuses.
After brief questions confirming the projects had been vetted by the Charter Facilities Oversight Committee, a board member moved to approve both requests and another seconded. The board voted by unanimous voice vote; there was no public comment recorded on the agenda item.
Kissell said the upgrades would improve campus security and tidied shared spaces; the projects were presented as smaller‑scale Measure K uses rather than district‑wide construction programs.
