Cooper Ford, one of the high school instrumental teachers, and music supervisor Danielle Noodleman invited the public to the district's winter concert season and described a newly retooled MBTHS "Holiday Pops" show scheduled for Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. in the MBTHS Performing Arts Center.
"I'm Cooper Ford, one of the instrumental teachers of the high school," Ford said. He and supervisor Danielle Noodleman said the Holiday Pops show will feature honors choir, band, orchestra and drum line, include some MBTHS alumni and special guests, and use the high school's upgraded stage lighting. Admission will be free.
Noodleman said the district is also scheduling about 11 concerts across elementary schools, the middle school and the high school between early December and late January, and listed dates: Dec. 5 (John Adams), Dec. 9 (Judd), Dec. 10 (MBTMS), Dec. 12 (Holiday Pops at MBTHS), Dec. 16 (Linwood), Dec. 17 (Livingston Park), Dec. 19 (Parsons), Jan. 23 (MBTHS choir/orchestra) and Jan. 28 (MBTHS band). The presenters asked concertgoers to consider bringing nonperishable food donations; the North Brunswick Movement and municipal alliance will collect items in the MBTHS lobby during the Dec. 12 performance.
Ford thanked staff and parents (including the band parent association) for support and noted a student-produced promotional video from the district's new TV studio. Vendors and a band-parent-run refreshment table will be in the lobby at the Dec. 12 show.
Superintendent Choroka and board members received the presentation during the public meeting; no formal vote was required. The district encouraged the public to attend and to support the food-drive collection.
