Edison schools to launch redesigned district website and app with AI chatbot

Heather Daniel previewed a redesigned Edison Township Public Schools website and a companion mobile app that the district planned to launch Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 4 p.m.
Daniel said the new site was built "from the ground up" to address parent requests for quick access to food services, tutoring, transportation, enrollment, curriculum and a district calendar. The plan links individual school calendars to district Google feeds and provides translation/ADA options. A district-specific AI chatbot will be added and indexed about 10 days after launch to help parents find information across the district and school pages.
"You can approach a website redesign project in two ways," Daniel said, explaining the district chose a ground-up build to avoid migrating outdated content. She demonstrated features including one-click areas for frequently used services, live district and school news feeds, and an internal live feed and app that staff can use to publish photos and updates.
The mobile app will be available in the App Store and Google Play. Parents can subscribe to individual schools and enable push notifications; the app also lets users add school events to their personal calendars and share events. District leaders asked the community to view the site and noted ongoing training for administrators to populate content accurately.
The board thanked Daniel for the work and noted the website and app will be promoted publicly; the transcript includes the documented launch date and the feature list.
