During the business portion of the meeting council handled routine and financial items. An ordinance (2025‑7) amending chapter 147 (licenses and fees) was read, moved and seconded; council closed the public hearing and approved the ordinance in roll call. The governing body also approved minutes and moved a consent motion covering items 1–20.
Finance highlights included a bills‑payable listing of $20,138,155.07 that contains the August Board of Education levy ($9,354,806), a $9,000,000 bond anticipation note principal payment and other regular items (paving, healthcare, library appropriation). Council approved a first amendment for a municipal property revaluation contract with deliverables and timelines (completion not later than Nov. 1, 2025) and certified the 2024 annual audit with a corrective action plan.
Resolutions included routine personnel appointments (permanent patrol officer appointment, special class hires and authorization to fill police vacancies), grant applications (Union County KRTF for recreation equipment and a Greening Union County tree grant), and a municipal contract renewal for management software. Council also discussed committee recruitment and the status of the Diversity Committee; members agreed to return the matter for further discussion on appointments and insurance coverage before formal committee activities proceed.
Council thanked first responders, DPW and staff for storm response, reviewed planning board activity related to a Toll Brothers submission and noted upcoming public meetings and community events.
