Richardson County reports 44,074.07 tons of road rock placed since July; cost tops $1 million

Highway Superintendent Steve Darveau Jr. updated the Richardson County Board on routine road and bridge maintenance and on aggregate placement across the county. Darveau displayed samples of road rock, discussed quarry locations and the differing types of rock available, and provided a detailed report on loads placed since July 1, 2025.
According to Darveau, the county placed 1,979 loads totaling 44,074.07 tons at a total aggregate cost of $1,009,207.29 through March 19, 2026. Commissioner District 2 received 845 loads (19,965.43 tons) costing $388,851.14; District 3 received 1,107 loads (23,545.05 tons) costing $608,214.46; stockpile received 27 loads (563.59 tons) costing $12,141.69. Darveau also provided a township-level breakdown including Falls City (4,552.95 tons, $98,623.73) and Franklin (4,526.42 tons, $118,391.28).
Commissioners reviewed the figures and the types and sources of aggregate as part of routine maintenance oversight. No formal budget reallocation or vote on rock purchases was recorded during this item.
