Lucas, the county’s emergency management director (S8), said the contract will fund four years of annual updates needed to keep the county and its municipalities eligible for federal hazard mitigation and related public‑safety funding. He said three municipalities still needed to adopt the plan to ensure project eligibility. Lucas told commissioners that the final public plan must be complete by Dec. 31, 2027, and the final report is due March 1, 2028.
County staff said the updates are intended to add newly identified hazards and projects so they become eligible for federal funding. Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the professional‑services agreement extension by voice vote.
