The committee considered “Press Plus” edits across governance, fiscal, personnel and student-conduct policies. Wasko said the changes included minor language clarifications to Board Member Development (2:120) and the Discrimination and Harassment policy (2:270), added language to the Committees policy (2:150), and timing and compliance updates in fiscal policies, such as moving a deadline under Fiscal and Business Management (4:10) and setting an October 15 deadline for Accounting and Audits (4:80).
Wasko identified personnel and student-facing edits slated for first reading. Equal Opportunity and Minority Recruitment (5:10) was revised to state that a background check would not be conducted until a job offer is made; Abused and Neglected Child Reporting (5:90) was amended to address sexual-abuse materials. Staff Development (5:100) and ESS duties (5:280) had minor wording updates noted for certified-to-licensed transitions and job qualifications.
Curriculum and student-credit policies were a major focus. Wasko said Curriculum Content (6:60) now explicitly lists additions including alcohol and drug prevention, CPR, media literacy, nutrition, family-life topics and mental-health credits. The district’s approach to graduation requirements and truancy (6:300; 7:70) was flagged for clarity; one line item added or emphasized attendance as part of those standards. The BYOT program (6:220) and changes to High School Credit for Non-District Experiences (6:310) also appeared on the list, the latter with removed language.
Student-safety and behavioral policies saw targeted edits: Prevention and Response to Bullying, Intimidation, and Harassment (7:180) was updated to add AI-related incidents and cyberbullying; Student Behavior (7:190) included language concerning firearms access. Suicide and Depression Awareness and Prevention (7:290), restrictions on high school publications (7:315), student records updates related to law enforcement (7:340), and Visitors to and Conduct on School Property (8:30) were also listed for first-reading changes.
The meeting record shows no motions or votes; the session lasted from 5:06 p.m. to 5:23 p.m. and adjourned with the next meeting listed as TBD.
