Libertyville SD 70 spotlights student-athletes and launches SSLAC student representatives

The Libertyville School District 70 Board opened its Jan. 26 meeting by recognizing Highland Middle School athletes who placed in the top three of Lakeside Conference competitions and by honoring Rockland Principal Steve Feldman for a regional principal award.
Superintendent Rebecca Jenkins introduced student board members Devlin A. and Sutherland B. as representatives of the newly created Superintendent's Student Leadership Advisory Council (SSLAC). Devlin told the board he would like more sports equipment available for students during the school day; Sutherland asked for expanded intramural sports for sixth-graders and described highlights from a fall conference in Chicago. Jenkins said SSLAC will help administrators identify celebrations and areas for growth at Highland and across District 70.
The recognitions and SSLAC introduction were presented before the board took routine business and policy votes later in the meeting. No public-floor presentations were made at this meeting.
