Wegner Elementary highlights student voice, PBIS and family engagement

Principal Janet Gruenwald presented Wegner Elementary’s Student Voice in Action program to the board Feb. 19, describing efforts to strengthen school–family connections and build student leadership.
Gruenwald said the school emphasized core values and PBIS expectations this year and has begun monthly school assemblies that include younger students leading the Wegner song. She said a Principal Advisory for students will hold its first meeting next week and described student-led online announcements each Monday and Wednesday. "It is important to make sure students are having fun and can regroup at the end," Gruenwald told the board as several students demonstrated the Wegner song and musical tubes during the meeting.
The principal also described outreach to families, a developing PTO and recent events that drew more than 320 attendees.
Superintendent Kristina Davis and board members thanked Wegner staff and students for the presentation.
