West Chicago ESD 33 board approves consent agenda including payroll and personnel actions

The Board of Education of West Chicago Elementary School District 33 voted unanimously Feb. 19 to approve its consent agenda, including minutes, expenditures and personnel actions.
Motion by Board member Morgan Banasiak, seconded by Janette Hernandez, carried on a roll-call vote with Banasiak, Hernandez, President Rita Balgeman, Tom Doyle and Sandra Garcia voting aye and no members voting nay. The approved bills totaled $916,151.89. Approved payrolls included $1,882,799.64 for Jan. 15, 2026, and $1,828,725.00 for Jan. 31, 2026.
Personnel actions approved on the consent agenda included administrative hires: Martha Maggiore was approved as interim assistant principal at Pioneer Preschool effective March 1, 2026, and Jennifer Eisenmenger as assistant director of student services at the ESC effective July 1, 2026. A certified hire, Alexis Loa, was approved as a PE teacher at Gary effective March 2, 2026. The board also recorded resignations including Leslie Vargas (temporary custodian), Emily Prowell (self-contained preschool teacher), and Brett Jacobson (school social worker); retirement reports showed none.
The board also approved disposition of closed-session audio tapes that meet the State’s retention criteria.
The meeting adjourned at 8:06 p.m. after the board returned from closed session earlier in the evening.
