The Greenland Conservation Commission accepted the cancellation of a planned conditional‑use permit presentation for 24 Shore Drive and handled several community‑oriented items at its June 3 special meeting.
A committee member moved to "accept the cancellation of the conditional use permit presentation to the conservation commission by 24 Shore Drive with all prejudice," and the motion was seconded; the motion was recorded as carried after affirmative voice votes. The commission also voted to postpone approval of the meeting minutes to July.
Members reviewed a complaint about persistent trash in the Lowe’s/Target parking area and photographs collected by a neighbor. Chair said the town administrator had sent a letter to the property manager and that the commission’s DOT sponsor‑a‑highway application could cover a defined stretch of Route 33. Commissioners discussed the logistics of volunteering across sections of the route, safety around high‑traffic areas, frequency of required cleanups under the sponsorship agreement and signage that would represent the commission as sponsor.
The commission reported progress on Thompson Brook cleanup (including removal of a refrigerator) and noted its new Facebook page, which has posted cleanup photos. The photo contest had received about 15 submissions so far with a deadline on the 29th; winners are planned to be announced at National Night Out on Aug. 5.
Members also discussed a T‑Mobile grant the commission wants to pursue; the Chair said the commission should present the plan to the Select Board in advance of applying and suggested scheduling the Select Board appearance at its next available meeting.
The commission closed the session after a motion to adjourn carried by voice vote.
