Council approves two large Pioneer Park events; mayor recuses

Staff said Scary Vore (a Scottish cross‑genre band) would use a footprint similar to Jerry Bash, with load‑in and load‑out schedules and fencing to manage crowds; organizers expect 500–700 attendees for Scary Vore and 800–1,000 for Jerry Bash. Mayor Peterson recused himself from the vote because he lives next to the park and left the dais; Vice Mayor Klein ran the meeting during the item.
Lindsay Mullen (Miners Foundry) described the event logistics and stressed collaboration with KVR and long‑standing volunteers. Council asked about load‑in, fencing and staff responsibilities; Lon Peterson (assistant/city manager) noted that by the time the city operates the foundry the events will be the city’s responsibility but that Miners Foundry staff will continue to execute the events in practice.
A motion to approve the facility use and extended hours passed on roll call 3–0 (Council Member Fernandez, Council Member Cece and Vice Mayor Klein voting yes). Staff will coordinate permits, fencing and neighbors before the events.
