The Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District board approved several routine items and received updates on next steps for the recently passed Measure SOS during its Nov. 13 meeting.
Votes and motions at the meeting included: a motion to table item B4 (moved and seconded; recorded as passing 4–0), approval of the Oct. 23 minutes (voice vote recorded 5–0) and approval of the consent calendar (5–0). President Ami Gandhi called these actions and recorded roll calls where appropriate.
Superintendent Dr. Serrano briefed the board on preliminary Measure SOS results reported that evening (57.29% in favor as of the meeting; county certification pending). He outlined immediate administrative steps required after a successful Prop 39 bond vote: preparing legal documents and disclosures for bond issuance, choosing a sale method (competitive vs. negotiated), securing credit‑rating agency meetings and establishing the Independent Citizens Oversight Committee (ICOC) required by Prop 39 within 60 days of board certification. Serrano described the ICOC membership requirements and noted annual reporting and audits will follow.
Board members thanked volunteers who supported the Measure SOS campaign and asked staff to return with specific legal and procedural documents at a future meeting. The meeting concluded after members offered future‑agenda items and brief reports.
