Business services and HR staff summarized key terms: the tentative agreement embeds a two-year compensation alignment so classified compensation aligns with other bargaining units, clarifies layoff notification timelines to match new legislative language tied to March 15, adds Juneteenth as an authorized holiday, and establishes rank-based hiring flexibility to assist recruitment. HR presenter (speaker 5) also emphasized expanded training and a classified professional development day the day before the first day of school.
"We've embedded a 2 year compensation agreement in this TA," HR staff said, explaining the approach was to align bargaining units with state revenue cycles. The staff presentation included that estimated salary-schedule increases for next year were effectively 0 percent under the current formula — the disclosure showed year 1 as 0 in the cost columns.
Board discussion was largely supportive, and members thanked negotiators for their work. The board approved the AB 2756 disclosure documents and then approved the CSEA tentative agreement (voice votes recorded as unanimous).
