Lynwood Unified board approves three-year contracts for assistant superintendents, sets salaries

The Lynwood Unified School District Board of Education on May 8 unanimously approved three-year employment agreements for three assistant superintendent positions, covering the term July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028.

General counsel read the required public report under Government Code section 54953(c)(3) summarizing the material terms. "All of the agreements provide for a new 3 year term from 07/01/2025 to 06/30/2028," counsel said during the readout. The assistant superintendent positions for business services and for technology and innovation were placed at step 5 of the existing salary schedule at $246,572 per year; the assistant superintendent of human resources was placed at step 3 at $230,843 per year. The agreements include annual step increases contingent on future board action adding salary steps, participation in district health, dental and vision plans, $250,000 term life insurance, and 24 days of paid vacation annually.

Board members moved and voted to approve the items identified on the agenda as 13b2–13b4; the board recorded the motion as carrying 5–0. Doctor Hardy moved to approve items 13b3 and 13b4; the motion was seconded by Missus Lopez and approved by voice vote. The board later took a separate, formal amendment vote to confirm that the contracts read as three-year terms; that amendment likewise passed 5–0.

The district counsel also clarified that two closed‑session items listed on the published agenda were not considered. The contracts take effect July 1, 2025, under the terms read into the public record; specific contract documents and employee names were not included in the readout and were not specified in the public summary.

The board concluded by approving the consent agenda and several personnel and facilities items before adjourning. The next regular meeting is scheduled for May 22, 2025.
