The Travis Unified School District board confirmed personnel actions that were reported out from closed session and approved an employment agreement for Tiffany Benson to serve as district superintendent beginning July 1, 2024.
The chair summarized the oral terms required by Government Code section 54953: the agreement term covers four years (07/01/2024–06/30/2028), the superintendent's annual base salary was presented in the oral summary as "243" and staff described a 2% scheduled increase beginning 07/01/2025; the superintendent would receive the same benefits as other certificated management employees, be eligible for 12 days of sick leave annually, have 221 work days per year, and a term life insurance policy described in the summary as $100,000. The board then moved and voted on the employment agreement during open session and approved the item.
Earlier in the meeting the board also announced principal appointments from closed session: a principal for Cambridge Elementary (Dr. Dylan/Dr. Dillon as introduced in open session) and Jennifer Greenway as principal of Center Elementary, both effective 07/01/2024. At the time of the meeting staff indicated these were appointments recommended and approved in closed session and the corresponding employment agreements and personnel matters will follow required administrative steps.
Board members welcomed the new principals and the incoming superintendent. "On behalf of the governing board and the entire Travis Unified community, congratulations to Tiffany Benson, our prospective superintendent," the chair said when reporting the closed-session action.
Next steps: the employment agreement documentation will be finalized per law and administrative process; the board indicated the agreement will be considered and voted on in open session (which occurred during this meeting).
