The Putnam County Personnel Committee met Dec. 9, 2025, in Room 318 of the Putnam County Office Building in Carmel and unanimously moved to pre-file a resolution setting 2026 salaries for officers and employees paid from county funds. The committee also approved multiple fund transfers to cover sheriff and corrections overtime.
The actions were approved during a brief meeting called to order at 6:02 p.m. by Chairman Jonke. Item #3, described as approval to pre-file the resolution establishing 2026 salaries, was moved by Chairman Jonke, seconded by Legislator Gouldman and carried unanimously.
Committee members then considered Fund Transfer 25T472 to cover sheriff overtime through year end. Acting Sheriff Brian Hess told the panel there have been "more callouts than usual," prompting the request for additional overtime funding. Chairman Jonke moved to pre-file the necessary resolution; Legislator Addonizio seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
Under Other Business the committee voted to waive the rules to accept three submitted items. Those included Fund Transfer 25T492 to cover corrections overtime for August. Acting Sheriff Hess explained that corrections officers accompany inmates to medical appointments and said the overtime is being covered using vacant positions. When Chairman Jonke asked whether the overtime stemmed from short staffing, Hess said there are currently five vacancies and that a new staffing list should be provided soon. The committee approved pre-filing the resolution for 25T492.
The committee also approved Fund Transfer 25T493 (corrections overtime for September) and Fund Transfer 25T494 (corrections overtime for October). Both motions were moved by Chairman Jonke, seconded by Legislator Gouldman, and carried unanimously.
