The East Hampton Design Review Board on March 17 approved an application from 100 Montauk LLC to convert the former restaurant at 100 Montauk Highway into office space with two apartments on the second floor.
Grace Carter, who said she works for Tarban Lester and was representing the applicant, told the board the building "used to be a restaurant, was purchased, and is being turned into an office space with 2 apartments on the 2nd floor." Carter said another applicant representative, John, was unable to attend this morning because of a doctor's appointment but would be available later to answer additional questions.
Board members said they had reviewed the application materials and the minutes and offered no substantive questions at the hearing. A member moved and a member seconded to approve the application; the board then took a roll call vote and the present members voted to approve. The clerk recorded approvals by Chair Robert Caruso, Vice Chair Kristen Corwin, Member Susan Davies and Member Lisa Larson. No abstentions or defections were recorded on the record.
The approval allows the conversion and the creation of two residential units on the second floor as presented in the application materials. The record submitted for review also included a written recommendation from the village attorney; the board indicated the attorney's submission had been reviewed prior to the vote.
The board concluded the item without substantive conditions recorded on the transcript. The application file will reflect the board's approval and any outstanding administrative steps required for building or occupancy permits.
