During its April meeting the Community Consolidated School District 59 board passed multiple routine and administrative items by roll-call vote.
The board approved the consent agenda (items 6.01–6.06). It then approved a motion to set the final school closing date for the 2025–26 year as June 1, 2026. The board adopted proclamations designating April 2026 as Public School Volunteer Appreciation Week and a week in May 2026 as Staff/Teacher Appreciation Week; the president and secretary will sign certified copies for distribution to schools.
Separately the board approved a three-year contract for ParentSquare to consolidate family-staff communications and voted to proceed with a staff laptop refresh with an estimated price of $906,998 (final cost to be determined by staffing numbers). The board also accepted a $100 donation to Salt Creek Elementary from Laurie and former chief David Miller; the donation will be recorded in the minutes.
Several other discussion items were reviewed without final action at this meeting, including meal-fee adjustments (a 10-cent increase announced for 2026–27), refuse/recycling service, insurance renewal updates and routine seal-coating bids. The board scheduled a public hearing on the e-learning plan for the May meeting, with final approval to follow in June.
