Sheboygan committee approves ordinance to correct Chapter 12 cross-references

The Sheboygan Licensing Hearings and Public Safety Committee on March 10 approved an ordinance intended to correct cross-references in Chapter 12 of the Sheboygan municipal code, a city attorney said.

Attorney Majeris told the committee the proposal arose after building inspection staff identified references missed during a recodification of the municipal code. "This is as simple as fixing cross references," Majeris said, and later added, "This is just administrative."

Committee members pressed for clarity that the ordinance would not alter regulations or enforcement. Alder Boorhis asked whether the update was merely renumbering and whether prior insertions had caused the shifts; Majeris said the recodification a couple of years earlier reorganized subsections and those cross-references were missed, prompting the formal, corrective ordinance.

A motion to approve the ordinance was made during the meeting and the chair called the vote; members responded in the affirmative and the chair recorded the ordinance as approved. The committee also approved the minutes from the Feb. 23 meeting earlier in the session (motion recorded as made by Alder Boros, seconded by Alder Perella). The chair announced the committee's next scheduled meeting for 04/13/2026 and adjourned the session at 04:35.

What the ordinance does: according to Attorney Majeris, the ordinance updates internal cross-references within Chapter 12 to point to the correct subsection numbers after a prior recodification.
