Summary
The Port Angeles School District Board of Directors unanimously approved a GCCM contract for Port Angeles High School, selecting FOMA and noting an overhead-and-profit fee of 3.54% and specialized general conditions under $2,000,000 for the roughly $100,000,000 project.
The Port Angeles School District Board of Directors voted Thursday to approve a GCCM contract for Port Angeles High School, endorsing FOMA as the construction manager at a reported overhead-and-profit fee of 3.54% for the roughly $100,000,000 project.
Nolan, the presenter, said the selection followed an RFQ issued in January, interviews and proposal review. “Their percentage fee of overhead and profit for this project is 3.54%,” Nolan said, adding that the firm’s specialized general conditions were “really good at under $2,000,000 for that project.”
The recommendation to accept FOMA as the GCCM was followed by a formal motion from a board member to approve the contract and selection. Nolan seconded the motion. A board member confirmed legal staff had reviewed the contract thoroughly, and the Chair called the vote. Nolan and the Chair vocalized “aye,” the Chair noted there were no opposing votes, and the motion carried.
The approval authorizes district leadership to proceed with the GCCM agreement for Port Angeles High School as presented; the board did not record any amendments during the meeting and no dollar-amount changes to the contract were discussed on the record. Board members also noted that legal review had occurred, though one member said the paperwork was initially confusing on review.
After the vote the Chair adjourned the meeting and announced the board would move into a special work session to discuss the district’s strategic plan.
Next steps: staff will proceed with contracting under the approved GCCM recommendation; the meeting moved into a work session for further planning discussion.
