The Beach Haven Borough Council on July 14 approved a resolution promoting Patrolman John D. Mitchell to the rank of sergeant and administered the oath of office.
The council introduced Resolution 181-2025 to promote Mitchell and a member moved and seconded the resolution. After a roll-call vote the measure carried and Mitchell repeated the oath: “I, John d Mitchell…do solemnly swear…that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of New Jersey,” after which council members congratulated him and recessed briefly for family photographs.
The promotion was described on the record as an internal personnel action. No additional duties, salary changes or effective dates beyond the approval were specified during the meeting. The council returned to public session following a short recess.
The meeting record includes the resolution approval and the formal oath administered during the session.
