Maywood board withdraws and tables draft to allow new Class “N” (bar and grill) liquor licenses

The Village of Maywood Board of Trustees on Feb. 18 discussed a draft ordinance to amend Title XI, Chapter 117 of the village code to permit new Class "N" (bar and grill) liquor licenses. Attorney Michael Jurusik told the board the draft ordinance was not ready for approval because it raises policy issues and requires direction to staff.
Trustee I. Brandon moved and Trustee N. Booker seconded a motion to table the draft ordinance to the next meeting. The motion carried with votes in favor from Mayor Edwenna Perkins and Trustees I. Brandon, M. Jones, K. Wellington, M. Lightford and N. Booker; Trustee A. Sanchez was recorded as abstaining. Attorney Jurusik advised that further policy discussion and staff work are necessary before the board can consider final language.
The board did not adopt any ordinance language at this meeting; tabling preserves the board’s ability to revisit the item once a revised draft and staff recommendations are available.
