Maywood backs Rosebud Cinema Diner concept, approves community facility and Little League field use

The Maywood Board of Trustees on Feb. 18 approved a Letter of Support for the Rosebud Cinema Diner concept, moved forward permits for community events and approved use of the Little League field for Athletic Konnection Maywood Little League.
Trustee N. Booker moved and Trustee M. Lightford seconded approval of a Letter of Support for the cinema-eatery concept; the motion carried unanimously. Trustee Michael Dawson noted that a possible location could be identified once a Letter of Intent is in place with Danny (Danny’s Roofing, Inc.), who is also developing an ice cream parlor.
The board also approved the multipurpose building at 200 South 5th Avenue for the Fourth Annual Prom Dress Drive and granted Athletic Konnection permission to use the Maywood Little League field in Maywood Park. The Little League motion passed with the mayor recorded as voting nay on that specific item; otherwise, votes were in favor.
These approvals are procedural endorsements and facility permits; they do not commit village construction funds or formally award development contracts. Next steps for the Rosebud concept include site identification and any future formal development proposals to be returned to the board for consideration.
