Traffic commission approves red-curb and disabled-parking installations at three addresses

City engineer Doug Benesh said field inspections found parking that encroached on the driveway apron and showed there was room for about one to two compact cars; crews will reinstall the address number where the red curb is painted.
At 5845 (Grama/Clare) Street, staff recommended painting three feet of red curb on both sides of a driveway that serves a double-driveway condition on a collector street. Benesh said the change would provide clearer sight lines for motorists and still leave parking available nearby; commissioners approved the recommendation for city-council consideration.
On a separate item, staff asked the commission to approve an on-street disabled parking space in front of 7741 (Ramish/Ramesh) Avenue. Staff presented the applicant’s documentation — DMV-issued disabled-plates and a medical statement — and recommended an 18-foot blue curb with an R9 sign. The commission approved that recommendation for council consideration.
All three motions passed on roll call. Staff said the recommendations are consistent with the city’s on-street parking and sight-line policies and will be forwarded to the city council for final authorization where required.
