West Covina swears in Greg McKeown as new fire chief

He told the audience, “You can expect that from me, that I will put myself last and put you most first in everything we do.”
Council members commended McKeown’s leadership and expressed confidence in his ability to strengthen the department’s operations and community partnerships. The council recessed briefly after the ceremony for refreshments before resuming business.
The ceremony included remarks from longtime colleagues and a retired firefighter, Chris Concepcion, who highlighted McKeown’s people‑first leadership and years of service to the profession. Chief McKeown said he looked forward to building relationships across the city and to working with staff and the community.
