Sleepy Hollow awards $70,554 contract to repair eroding swale on Sleepy Hollow Road

The Sleepy Hollow Village Board approved a $70,554 contract Oct. 7 with Landmark Contractors to repair a long‑troubling swale on Sleepy Hollow Road near Jockey Creek.
Board members said the swale has carried highway runoff for years and is now undermining the curvature of the road. The village engineer presented three bids; the lowest responsive bid of $70,554 from Landmark was accepted after trustee discussion about cost and long‑term roadway risk.
Trustees moved and seconded to accept the proposal; a roll call recorded six ayes and no nays. Trustees and staff said timely repair would be less expensive than losing the roadway and incurring larger downstream costs. The engineer and public works staff will coordinate schedule, notice requirements and construction details.
The board also authorized the village engineer to obtain cost estimates on two other large, aging culvert runs (Hillcrest between Lake Powell and Lake Sharon, and the culvert outside Village Hall on Thoroughbred Lane) for future budgeting.
