Daniel council approves business licenses, warrants and routine minutes; reviews water and planner reports

The Daniel Town Council approved several routine business items at its March 2 meeting, including a new business license for Q Boys (automotive repair) with conditions carried over from its previous license and renewal approvals for Adam Knight Plumbing, Smitty’s Small Engine Repair and Full Scope Sewing.
Councilmember Gary Walton moved to approve Q Boys with conditions governing number of cars, containment in a garage, hours of operation and pollutant disposal; Councilmember Eric Bennett seconded and the motion passed on a roll call vote. Councilmember Brooke Rose then moved to approve the three renewals; Bennett seconded and the motion passed.
Clerk/Recorder Megan Goodrich added two invoices to the warrant sheet—Wasatch County Public Works for $2,891.40 and Jones & DeMille for $2,910.00—bringing the total warrants to $36,204.65. Councilmember Eric Bennett moved approval of the amended warrant sheet; Councilmember Gary Walton seconded and the motion passed on a roll call vote.
The council also approved the Feb. 2, 2026 minutes (motion by Gary Walton; second by Eric Bennett) and adjourned at 7:45 p.m. Mayor Kohler announced the hiring of Jolene Munford as the new administrative assistant and Planning Commission secretary, beginning at $20 per hour during training and increasing to $25 per hour after the training period.
On utilities, Mayor Kohler said the town’s meters read 177 meters with 63 that did not read; un‑read meters were billed the standard rate. Planner Eric Bunker reported spring readings ("big spring" 97, "little spring" 27) and advised caution about a nearby well being drilled that could affect town water sources. Bunker also noted a setback adjustment on the Phelps rebuild and warned town email users to be wary of cyber risks.
