Libertyville SD 70 board adopts 2025 tax levy, approves Butterfield renovation, fee increases and intercom upgrade

The Libertyville Elementary School District No. 70 Board of Education on Monday adopted the district's 2025 final tax levy and approved several routine budget and operations measures, including a $50,000 school maintenance grant for Butterfield School and a new intercom system at Copeland Manor.
Board Member Mr. McGhee moved to approve the Final Tax Levy as presented in Board Report 7.2; the motion was seconded by Board Member Mr. Lawton and carried on a unanimous roll-call vote. The Board's packet noted the procedural requirements under the Illinois Property Tax Code that govern levy notices and public hearings.
Also on the agenda, the Board approved a $50,000 FY 2026 School Maintenance Grant for Butterfield School (Board Report 7.3) to fund painting, classroom carpet replacement, LVT flooring in hallways, ceiling replacement and terrazzo restoration in the multipurpose room. The motion to approve the maintenance grant was made by Mr. McGhee, seconded by Mr. Lawton, and passed unanimously.

The administration recommended replacing the end-of-life intercom/paging system at Copeland Manor with new hardware and management software to align it with the system at Highland Middle School. The Board approved the project (hardware, licensing, installation and programming) by unanimous vote.
Policy updates listed in Board Report 7.1 across governance, operations, personnel and instruction were approved by motion of Mr. McGhee and second of Mrs. Dahlke, with one exception: policy 2:150 (School Board: Committees) was pulled from the vote for further consideration.
