Zoning board approves Warren City Fair and seasonal sales permits for local florists

The Warren City Zoning Board of Appeals approved permits April 8 for the Warren Lions Club to hold the Warren City Fair June 17–21 and for two seasonal outdoor sales operations run by Thrifty Florist.
Al Lindsey, the Lions Club representative, said the fair has run for more than 60 years and the club requested standard approval; the board approved the event with the condition that music be shut off one hour before closing on each night.
Nicole Agby requested seasonal-sales permits for two florist locations (788 sq ft at Shaner Road and 600 sq ft at Ryan Road) for March 31–Jan. 31. Planning staff found no issues. Board discussion focused on recurring annual requests, display aesthetics and a persistent dumpster placement at one site. "We need to call the dumpster company," a board member said; Agby said a new contractor and weather issues had complicated removal this year.
The board urged petitioners to consider permanent site-plan revisions where feasible but acknowledged costs can make annual permits more economical for small businesses. Both florist requests were approved; the board asked staff to monitor dumpster placement and encouraged improved display fixtures where practicable.
