The chair emphasized the transfer is temporary: if the property is used for anything other than recreation it must revert to the school board, and if the town declines to accept the deed after improvements the property will go back to the school board. The chair said the county does not intend to own the property permanently.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions and confirmed this path had been necessary to ensure the facility could be upgraded. The item was placed on Monday's agenda for formal consideration; no final action was taken at this meeting.
