Houston County commission to back Foundation-funded expansion of PulsePoint into rural areas

The chair described how PulsePoint works for residents who are CPR-certified: the app alerts nearby users when someone experiences cardiac arrest and displays the nearest automated external defibrillator (AED). He said he had installed the app and credited the city of Dothan with reporting life-saving benefits.
Commissioners did not raise objections when the chair asked to add the resolution to Monday's agenda. The chair characterized the proposal as a partnership with the Southeast Alabama Health Foundation to extend a tool that the chair said can speed bystander response to cardiac arrest in rural parts of the county.
The commission did not take a final, recorded vote during this meeting; the item was scheduled for formal consideration on Monday's agenda. If approved, the county role will be limited to a resolution of support and cooperation; the Foundation, per the chair, will cover implementation costs.
