The Butler County Board of Supervisors on April 6 appointed Brittney Dailey as Interim Director of the Butler County Senior Center with pay increased from $18.50 to $25.00 per hour, retroactive to March 25, 2026.
HR Director Aida Hickman and Supervisor Brad Vandenberg reported that Dailey "is doing extremely well so far" and recommended the appointment. The board approved the appointment and retroactive pay by roll call vote (Aye: Bauer, Griess, Coufal, Vandenberg, Krafka, Steager; Absent: Sypal).
The board also approved financial housekeeping to move Senior Center petty cash and signatory authority to a more local bank. County Treasurer Karey Adamy was authorized to open a new Senior Center petty cash account at Bank of the Valley with $400; Resolution 2026-06 (Senior Center Petty Cash Fund) and Resolution 2026-08 (designation of signers on the Bank of the Valley account) were approved. Adamy and Interim Director Dailey will be authorized signers; Joanna Brandenburgh will be an additional signer with debit card access for the kitchen. Two signatures will be required on checks and withdrawals.
The board approved Resolution 2026-09 to remove the former director and assistant director from the Senior Center account at First National Bank of Omaha and add the new signers. After a correction to a typographical error, the board approved Resolution 2026-10 to close the FNBO Senior Center account once the Bank of the Valley account is ready and funds have cleared.
During the meeting former Senior Center employee Tara Stephens described her reasons for resigning April 1, saying she had "made multiple attempts to get proper training" and felt assigned to dishwashing instead of kitchen lead duties; Chairman Steager and County Attorney Julie Reiter advised Stephens to follow the grievance policy and pursue the grievance committee process in the employee handbook.
The board's actions consolidate Senior Center finances at a local bank and install interim management while the county continues recruitment for a permanent director.
