McPherson County removes Waits Road from plan, postpones Tupper Drive project after residents raise concerns

The McPherson County Board of Commissioners on April 8 accepted the April Road Plan, removed the completed Waits Road project from the plan and postponed planned work on Tupper Drive after residents asked for more time.
Road Worker Ed Black told the board the Waits Road project has been completed; the board agreed to remove it from the Road Plan. Kenny and Joann Rundback addressed the commissioners about a planned Tupper Drive project. Although the county had received a Road Work Request and a signed Right-of-Way Easement, the commissioners agreed to postpone the project to allow an attorney representing the Rundbacks to contact County Attorney Whitney Schroeder before work proceeds.
Resident Arlen Connell asked the board to move some dirt off his road. The Road Department said it will review the road and move what is needed. The board also recorded a Safety Committee meeting and distribution of motor grader and front-end loader safety materials by Highway Superintendent Tom Werblow. County Treasurer Kerri Kramer mentioned a possible program to place Starlink systems in county emergency vehicles and said she will provide additional information when available.
Commissioner Brett Nason moved to accept the April Road Plan; Commissioner John Bryant seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The board’s decisions are administrative; no formal schedule for the postponed Tupper Drive work was recorded at the meeting.
