Missouri Valley Complex Committee asks Burleigh County to allow special planning meeting at Highway Department

The Missouri Valley Complex Committee voted Jan. 21 to ask the Burleigh County Commission for permission to hold a special planning meeting at the County Highway Department and to access that office's resources for a working session focused on site and facilities planning. The motion passed after a roll-call affirmation by committee members.

Committee member (S5) moved the request, saying the group should "hold a special meeting of the Missouri Valley Complex Committee, and we request from the Burley County Commissioners the use of the Highway Department Meeting Room and resources" for planning purposes. Chair (S3) seconded and the committee discussed specific staff participation and public-notice language before carrying the motion.

Members said the Highway Department conference room offers large screens, plat maps and engineering staff that would help the committee and invited county planning, highway, finance and administration representation. Steve New (S6), who has served as the committee's secretary/coordinator, supported the motion and the committee agreed to ask the commission to place the request on an upcoming county meeting agenda.

The chair said the committee will confer with its county liaison about the appropriate commission meeting date before formally scheduling the request. The committee's next procedural step is to ask county staff to place the item on a February commission agenda for formal consideration.

The motion carried in committee; membership roll call was taken and members registered affirmation during the meeting.
