Town reports progress on park repairs and debris removal; FEMA bid specs for bridge work in progress

The town manager updated council on the status of park repairs and storm recovery work. Contractors have replaced damaged dog‑park fencing, removed and fenced off damaged concrete around the courts for replacement, and begun installing posts and fencing for ball fields. Laser grading of infields has been completed and fields are being used for practices.
Staff said McGill Associates is preparing bid specifications and addressing FEMA floodplain review requirements for proposed bridge and stream bank repairs; once the bid packet is finalized, the town will advertise for construction bids. The manager noted delays in fencing material deliveries but said contractors had made meaningful progress in recent weeks.
On debris removal, the town is coordinating with the county’s contractor for collection and FEMA reimbursement. The manager said roughly half of the C&D piles previously identified have been picked up and that material is being staged at a county location near the community college prior to disposal; the town will absorb fuel and labor time costs and the county’s contractor will handle transport and tipping. Staff said monitors may reject improperly staged piles after a May 1 cutoff for storm‑related debris collection, but counties may continue pickups as needed for households that missed the deadline.
Council thanked public works staff for the effort and asked that staff continue to update council as the FEMA work and debris removal progress.
