The mayor read a proclamation declaring October 2025 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Keokuk, Lee County, urging the community to support victims and advocates.
Molly (speaker 2), identified herself as the new development coordinator for DVIP/RVAP, thanked the council and said that in fiscal year 2025 the organization provided services to 169 individuals from Lee County, 93 of whom were in Keokuk. Molly described upcoming events including a fundraiser on Oct. 19 at Fat Jimmy's Smokehouse, displays at local libraries, and a “Shop for Safety” donation drive in front of local stores to collect supplies for shelters. She said volunteers are especially needed for evening shifts and listed the types of donations that help survivors (diapers, canned goods and personal necessities).
The mayor and council thanked the representatives and allowed time for a photo.
