Merced Union High trustees approve 2025–26 LCAP after minor edits prompted by public input

The Merced Union High School District board unanimously approved the 2025–26 Local Control Accountability Plan after staff incorporated suggestions received during the public hearing process.
Miss Ballinger summarized revisions made following public comment, including added language to goal 1.2 to emphasize placing students in CTE pathways at their site with special attention to at-risk students, expanded outreach language in goal 2.3 to bolster communications, and enhanced collaboration with feeder schools in goal 3.3 for vertical alignment and site visits for incoming ninth graders. "We added language that all students should be placed in their path in the pathway of their choice at their site with an emphasis on at-risk students," Ballinger said.
Jeanette McCauley presented the district’s local indicators that inform LCAP planning. She reported that the district’s FIT (facilities in good repair) score improved to 98.5% and that the number of teachers assigned outside their credential area fell from 105 to 79. McCauley also cited increases in several parent metrics from the California Healthy Kids and district surveys: 71% of parents agreed the district solicits input, 68% rated communication as meaningful, and 91% said schools provided information to parents. She said Panorama student-survey participation runs above 95%.
The superintendent recommended adoption of the LCAP; the board moved and the plan passed unanimously.
What it means: The adopted LCAP will guide district spending and program priorities for the coming year, including stronger communications, expanded CTE pathway placement, and continued emphasis on facilities and instructional materials. Staff said they will update the state dashboard later in the summer and continue to refine metrics as additional data arrive.
